It’s impossible to ignore the strife and pain that people are feeling across the country right now. This isn’t the first time that America has struggled with its identity, and it’s not likely to be the last. My heart has been heavy during these stressful times, and I know I’m not alone. Racial equality has been at the forefront of our national conversation, but diversity goes far beyond skin color. I wanted to take a moment to address the FPS culture and acknowledge the incredible people who make this such a great place to work.
When I started FPS, my primary vision was building a family-friendly workplace where all people felt accepted, valued, and supported professionally and personally, no matter their ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender. I wanted to create a culture where everyone felt comfortable and excited about coming to work. Years later, I’m proud of the team we’ve built. At FPS, family comes first. We love our fellow humans and live by the Golden Rule.
I think it’s important to listen to and support our community right now, inside FPS and out. Our connections to each other are the backbone of our company culture, and our community is what makes us strong. Our team thrives when we grow and learn together. We push each other to be better. Diversity of background, experiences, and thoughts leads to better, more creative solutions for our entire community. Simply put, diversity makes us a stronger team.
I know that there’s a lot of potential for us to grow in our efforts to reflect the full scope of the human experience, but I also know our team. I know that the FPS family is full of heart and compassion. We build each other up and empower each of our team members to be their most successful self. I’m proud of our team and honored to have each and every one of you in our community. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to call my family.
I know that we’re strong and don’t shy away from tough conversations. If you have ideas for how we can grow and improve as a company, or concerns about anything you’ve seen inside or outside of our FPS community, I’m here, and I’d love to talk about it with you. We’ll get through this hard time together and come out better for it.
Respectfully,
Kris Pettigrew
